Read About Rachel
Sure, you can read all the things I plan on reviewing, but why should you trust or value my opinion? Maybe you're a friend of mine, maybe you're my mother (hi, Mom!), or maybe you've somehow stumbled across this blog on the internets and you're wondering who on earth I am. So.
I'm a Children's librarian. I love to read, and I love to get other people reading (see photographic evidence below). I love children's and YA books, and also have an affinity for fast-paced thrillers and the occasional detective novel. Favorite authors include Tana French, Gillian Flynn (before she wrote "Gone Girl"...I like to clarify that the same way music folk like to emphasize that they liked a band before they got big), Ruta Septys, Laura Lippman, Sandra Kring...and lots more that I'm forgetting.
When it comes to television, my tastes are fairly standard. I love sit coms, but mostly I steer clear of the ones with laugh tracks (except for "Friends"--"Friends" is still the epitome of the perfect show, in my humble opinion). NBC's Thursday night line up is my favorite. I also enjoy crime dramas (are you sensing a trend?) with "Law & Order: SVU" topping the list. I avoid reality television, though occasionally "Dance Moms" is on when I'm flipping through the stations and I can't take my eyes off of it.
Drinking? I like that, too. Since December I've discovered a new affinity for champagne (I blame my attempt at reading Anna Karenina...my failed attempt), but I'm also partial to dry red wines and the occasional chardonnay. Jack Daniels is my liquor of choice and Coors Light my beer (shut up, I know you think it's watered down and cheap and I just don't care), but I'm a huge fan of Octoberfests, Scotch Ales, Pale Ales, etc.
I'm happily married (most days...some days I'm crankily married, but that's okay). We have 3 actual cats, Hattie, Cleo and Tut, and one orphaned cat, Sophie, who I still refuse to admit is ours, even though she's been living with us for 6 months. We've recently rescued an awesome Olde English Bulldog and named him Elton. He's a piece of work, to say the least.
So...those are my "credentials". Take them as you will. I hope you find something helpful here on the site!
